Shannon Allison's Love Affair with Curaçao's Colorful Shores

My husband and I had been craving something different. Not just another Caribbean beach vacation, but an island that felt undiscovered, a place where we could truly unwind while still having adventures to chase. Curaçao kept coming up in my research, and I knew I needed to experience it firsthand before I could confidently recommend it to my clients. What we found exceeded every expectation.
From the moment we arrived at our all-inclusive resort, the warmth of the island wrapped around us. Those first warm evenings on our balcony became a nightly ritual, one I'll never forget. I specifically remember standing there one evening when sea turtles swam up to the shore right in front of us. That quiet, magical moment was worth the entire trip.
Falling for Willemstad

I was surprised by how much I fell in love with Willemstad, the island's capital. It was the cutest little town, so bright and colorful, with buildings painted in every shade imaginable. I absolutely loved the floating bridge and watching the cruise ships come in. The shopping and dining opportunities exceeded what I expected from such a small island. Willemstad has this energy that's both lively and relaxed, perfect for wandering without an agenda.
The Joy of the Open Road
One of our best decisions was renting a car and driving the entire island in a day. Had I not had this opportunity, I wouldn't have realized how much fun and how much joy it brought to make lots of small stops along the way. We pulled over at beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters, each one feeling like our own private discovery. We stopped at the Blue Curaçao Factory and made sure to bring home Blue Curaçao and a couple other colors for fun drink making at home.

But the standout moment? Kina Beach. To this day, it's one of the most stunning beaches I've ever been to. I'll never forget swimming way out into the water and looking straight down, being able to see the bottom from 20 to 30 feet above. That clarity, that sense of floating above an underwater world, is something I keep thinking about and telling people about. A trip to Kina Beach is an absolute must for anyone visiting the island.
Who Will Love It Here
This island is perfect for families, couples, and even group trips. Anyone who really loves a great beach and Caribbean weather will thrive here. The island is small, which is important to know. If you're the type of person who enjoys tours every day and museums, this may not be the right trip for you. But if you're looking to kick back and enjoy quality time with family and friends, Curaçao delivers beautifully.

Having experienced the island myself, I am now able to recommend it for the right clients. I understand its pace, its size, and its unique charm. For those who want to experience something different, an island that not everybody gets to go to, it's a really great solid choice. This was a trip I would not hesitate to repeat, and I cannot wait to send the right clients there to experience the same joy we found. In fact, we've already decided we need to visit all the ABC islands, with Aruba up next on our list.
