Turks & Caicos

Arguably the finest beach water in the Caribbean — Grace Bay consistently ranks among the world's best, and the Ritz-Carlton Reserve at Providenciales sets a new standard for island luxury.

Expertise & Insights

Turks & Caicos earns its reputation as one of the Caribbean's elite destinations on the strength of Grace Bay Beach alone — 12 miles of powder-white sand with water so clear and impossibly blue that first-time visitors assume the photos are edited. They are not. The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Turks & Caicos is part of the brand's ultra-luxury Reserve collection, a step above even the flagship properties.

For my clients who want the Caribbean without compromise, Turks & Caicos delivers on every front. The island is small, English-speaking, and uses the US dollar — logistics are simple. The Providenciales airport is well-connected with direct flights from most major US cities. You clear US customs on return at the island itself, which means no long immigration lines when you land home.

Beyond the beach, the Caicos Cays offer some of the best snorkeling in the region — particularly Iguana Island and the coral gardens off French Cay. I recommend building at least one half-day boat excursion into any Turks itinerary. The conch fritters at Da Conch Shack on the beach are the unofficial welcome meal for first-timers, and rightfully so.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Turks & Caicos different from other Caribbean islands?
The water. Grace Bay has a consistency of color and clarity that most Caribbean beaches cannot match — shallow, calm, and protected by a barrier reef that keeps the surf gentle. The island is also very easy logistically: English-speaking, US dollars, direct US flights, and US customs pre-clearance on return. For clients who want a five-star Caribbean experience without complications, it is my first recommendation.
What is the Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Turks & Caicos?
The Reserve collection is Ritz-Carlton's ultra-luxury tier — fewer rooms, higher staff-to-guest ratio, more personalized service, and a distinctive design language rooted in the local environment. The Turks & Caicos property opened in 2023 and sits directly on Grace Bay. It is one of the most impressive properties I have researched in the Caribbean and is on my personal list to visit.
When is the best time to visit Turks & Caicos?
December through April is peak season with perfect weather and highest prices. The shoulder seasons — May and November — offer excellent conditions with meaningfully lower rates and thinner crowds. Hurricane season runs June through November, but Turks & Caicos sits in a relatively protected position and significant direct hits are rare. September and October are highest-risk months I advise avoiding.
What activities are available beyond the beach?
Snorkeling and diving are world-class — the barrier reef system hosts one of the healthiest coral ecosystems in the Caribbean. Half-day excursions to the outer cays for snorkeling with nurse sharks and rays are popular with my clients. Iguana Island is a short boat ride and the rock iguanas are surprisingly photogenic. The island also has excellent dining concentrated along the Grace Bay corridor.
