Anita Magnoli's Tuscany Journey: When Less Rushing Means More Magic

Italy — Anita Magnoli's travel story

Back in 2008, my mom and I made a decision that would change the way I think about travel forever.

We booked eight days in Tuscany, Italy.

For my mom, it was her first time visiting Italy. For me, it was the destination I had dreamed of seeing for years. For both of us, it was a dream come true—and precious time away together as mother and daughter.

Italy — Anita Magnoli's travel story

We based ourselves in Montecatini, conveniently located near the train station, and used it as our home base to explore the region. In just eight days, we visited beautiful cities: Siena, Lucca, Florence (and Fiesole), determined to experience as much of Tuscany as possible.

And we certainly did.

Maybe a little too much. 😊

✨ The Moments I Still Remember

Some memories from that trip remain incredibly vivid.

We attended an amazing opera performance at Europe's Grand Tettuccio Spa. The beautiful surroundings, the atmosphere and the excitement of everyone gathered for the evening created one of those truly magical European experiences I had always imagined.

In Florence, we wandered through beautiful botanical gardens, museums and galleries before making our way to the Ponte Vecchio. We browsed the array of shops and bought signature jewelry pieces to bring home to family.

Standing on that historic bridge, surrounded by centuries of history, I understood why Florence captures people's hearts.

💡 And Then I Learned Something Important

Looking back, there is one thing I would have done differently.

I would have slowed down.

Tuscany has so much art, history, culture, food and beauty that you could spend a lifetime exploring it. We were determined to see everything in eight days—and in doing so, we sometimes rushed through experiences instead of truly being present.

We were trying to check all the boxes.

And that experience taught me one of the most important lessons I carry into my work as a Travel Advisor today:

Travel isn't about seeing everything. It's about truly experiencing where you are.

✈️ How Tuscany Influences the Way I Plan Travel Today

That trip continues to shape how I plan vacations for my clients.

I believe a great itinerary should have the right balance of exploration and breathing room. Yes, you should see the places you've dreamed about—but you should also have time to sit at a café, enjoy a beautiful meal, wander a little, or simply take in your surroundings. Just relax a little.

Through trusted travel partners and destination expertise, I help my clients create customized itineraries that are thoughtfully paced, seamless and enjoyable—so they can experience more without feeling like they're constantly racing to the next stop.

Because nobody wants to come home from vacation feeling like they need another vacation. 😊

Tuscany taught me that the most meaningful travel moments aren't always the ones you plan.

Sometimes they're the moments when you stop.

You take a breath.

You look around.

And you realize, "I'm really here."

That is the kind of travel I want to create for my clients.

Not just a trip filled with places to check off a list, but an experience filled with moments they'll still be talking about years later.

And for anyone dreaming of Italy—especially Tuscany—I would love to help you create a journey withtime to explore, time to savour and, most importantly, time to breathe.

Because sometimes the best souvenirs aren't the things you bring home. They're the memories that never leave you.
